Simply right click on a locked file, and choose Unlocker. No configuration is necessary, and there aren’t any advanced options. With Unlocker, however, you can eliminate the lock without rebooting. Often, when an undesirable lock occurs, the only way to eliminate that lock is to reboot Windows. Sometimes, however, a file is locked and then abandoned, and that can happen because of poor coding in a program or a Windows error. Most of the time, this kind of lock is desirable behavior because it ensures that the file a program is using or relying on isn’t removed. In Windows, files can become locked, which means that an application or a process has a claim on them. Note that there’s also a portable version of this app, which you can carry around with you on a USB flash drive or some other portable storage device. ![]() The program has a small footprint, requires very little system resources, and embeds into Windows Explorer, which means it’s right there via a right-click when you need it. With HOTs, an array of traps can be created to trap multiple particles simultaneously while being able to dynamically change this array pattern, allowing for highly controlled manipulation of particles 8, 9, 10, 11. These structured light traps are a well-established technique today 4, 5 and since most structured beams are created by means of a hologram, they have been dubbed holographic optical tweezers (HOTs) 6, 7. However, the employment of structured light 3 (by varying the intensity, phase and polarization of light) in optical tweezers has made it possible to not only trap but to move, rotate and direct particles. ![]() Optical tweezing was first demonstrated by Arthur Ashkin in 1970 with a Gaussian beam 1 and half a century later this beam still dominates optical trapping experiments 2. Optical trapping or tweezing describes the manipulation of nano- to micro-sized particles through momentum transfer from tightly focused light. ![]() |
